Laurens is a mastering and mixing engineer based at Motormusic Studios in Mechelen, Belgium.
He graduated in 2016 from PXL-Music with a degree in Music Technology. After graduating, he moved to the US to work as an engineer at Tarquin Studios, alongside Grammy Award–winning producer Peter Katis. During this period, he worked as a recording engineer with artists including Kurt Vile, Brian Fallon and Darlingside, while further developing his understanding of mastering through close exposure to veteran engineers such as Joe Lambert and Greg Calbi at Sterling Sound.
His approach to mastering is rooted in a musical and artistic perspective rather than a purely technical one. Decisions are guided by taste, balance and context, with a strong focus on how the music feels and communicates. Mastering is approached as the final creative stage of a record, aiming to support its identity while preserving character, dynamics and emotional intent.
After returning to Belgium in late 2017, Laurens shifted his focus towards mastering. Since then, he has mastered releases for artists including Whispering Sons, Arsenal, Bluai, Emma Hessels, Kaat Van Stralen, Lords of Acid, Porcelain id, Stake, Axwell / Ingrosso, Psychonaut and Mind Rays.
Alongside his studio work, Laurens teaches recording and mixing at PXL-Music in Hasselt, Belgium.
